What is Keratoconus?
Keratoconus is a progressive degeneration of the cornea (the first lens of the eye). This pathology is often hereditary, progressive and often occurs in both eyes.It induces corneal deformation which supposes a progressive increase of astigmatism and therefore a significant loss of vision. In order to treat its progression and avoid a possible corneal transplantation, it is important to detect it in an early stage.
Which solutions are there?
Our centre has experience as well as advanced instruments to detect these problems in an early stage and treat them depending on the stage we are facing:
- Adaption to contact lenses.
- Insertion of intrastromal rings (through femtosecond laser).
